Nostalgia OFP501 Movietime Popcorn Popper

This model has an interesting overall look and uses hot air for popping corn instead of oil. This model resembles a somewhat miniaturized movie theater popcorn cart and stands approximately a foot and a half tall. It can safely pop three and a half ounces of popcorn at a time.

In short, this model looks interesting and it is quite well crafted. However, there are mixed reviews about its performance.

Pros : This antiquated popcorn popper is table-top sized and pops corn in a healthy air heated manner. This is good for fast clean popping and can be quite the conversation piece.

Cons : There are many that find disappointment with this model due to it being unable to completely pop the kernels of corn placed within. The users cite a lot of left over kernels as the first of two major issues. The other issue is that the design is flawed and will actually shoot out very hot popcorn kernels that will land as far as five feet away.

Conclusion : This model of Nostalgia popcorn poppers looks whimsical and interesting but it is a hassle to use and could actually pose a danger to the owner's eyes due to flying popcorn kernels. This model receives a rating of two and a half stars from me.

Nostalgia CCP509 Full-Size Popper

This model of popcorn poppers is a full sized theater model that stands around five feet tall and a foot and a half wide. It is approved for commercial use and makes up to a gallon and a half of popcorn per patch.

Pros : Unlike the previously mentioned model this unit seems to be much better designed and has received uniformly positive reviews overall. The popcorn cart looks excellent; it has a metal roof and a stainless steel kernel catcher. The popcorn pops rapidly and most of the kernels used manage to pop in the manner of any quality commercial grade popcorn popper. For those interested this model also seems to be a lot less costly than many similar full-size models on the market.

Cons : There seems to be a few minor issues with the gear system if the unit isn't kept perfectly level. These issues rarely pop up, however. One other point of contention is a suggestion that you do not use more than four ounces of popcorn at a time for a batch to prevent gumming up the machine. This problem rarely occurs as well for most owners.
